Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zasrif spoke at the Munich Peace and Security Conference on the Middle East, accusing Israel of seeking war, Reuters reported."Certainly some people are looking for war," Zarif said during a question and answer session at the conference, adding "Israel" when pressed to say who.
Zarif claimed that Iran was in Syria "on the invitation of the Syrian government for the sole purpose of fighting terrorism." He accused Israel of violating international law after bombing campaigns in Syria, and criticized European powers for not calling out Israel and the United States for their behavior in the region.
“The risk (of war) is great. The risk will be even greater if you continue to turn a blind eye to severe violations of international law."
Zarif had on Saturday Iran rejected US Vice President Mike Pence’s remarks accusing the Islamic Republic of anti-Semitism akin to the Nazis, calling them "laughable" and insisting that Iran was "just against Zionists."
"Iran has always supported the Jews. We are just against Zionists. The Holocaust was a disaster," Zarif told Germany's Der Spiegel Online.
