No Christian Eriksen transfer issue, N'Koudou vs Georgiou and preparing for early signings next summer
Transfer Talk
The press are comical aren't they, Spurs have to brace themselves for Real Madrid interest in Christian Eriksen.Laughable, Eriksen will know he is not going anywhere and Spurs would not let him go anywhere. The transfer window is shut for Premier League clubs to buy so no replacement could be bought or loaned if he were to leave, thus he ain't leaving full stop.
The Dane created 5 chances yesterday, the rest of the Tottenham team created 4 between them. Even when he might appear to be quiet he is influential.
Clubs in Europe might still be able to buy, but there are going to come a cropper if they came calling to Spurs, unless it is for player well on the fringe like Vincent Janssen, who has not made the grade and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou, another who looks out of his depth.
What is the difference between 23-year-old (24 next February) and 21-year-old (22 next February) Anthony Georgiou? One is French, one plays for Cyprus, although left sided midfielder Georgiou is homegrown, N'Koudou is not.
This year that does not matter, he is too young, but next season Grergiou counts as a homegrown player (see a later article for more on the homegrown situation in the future).
He showed glimpses in America while N'Koudou was in the right place at the right time to score a couple. I think Georgiou still has a long way to go to push for a first team place so he will have to show mental strength and a burning desire to get there.
His contract was extended in November until 2020, N'Koudou has a contract until 2021.
N'Koudou spent last season on loan and thus he wouldn't be missed if he were loaned out again or sold in preparation for the winter transfer window or more probably next summer when it would then be possible to make an early signing or two, if Janssen was sold as well.
Fenerbache and St Etienne have shown an interest in N'Koudou, a return to the French Ligue 1 where he will be a homegrown player makes sense, French clubs will want him cheap though.
