Syria: Israel will pay for its attacks

Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Faisal Mekdad, on Sunday threatened Israel with “appropriate steps” following an air strike last week attributed to Israel.

 

"It will pay a heavy price for the attacks,” Mekdad said in an interview with the Al-Mayadeen TV network, as quoted by Israeli media.

 

“We warn Israel against continuing with these attacks. They will not divert attention from our war on terrorism in Syria, and we will take the appropriate steps and will not allow anyone to violate Syrian sovereignty,” he continued.

 

Mekdad stressed that "the time will come for Israel to pay the price for its attacks. We will restore our rights at the right time."

 

Syria said last week that Israel was behind an air strike on a Syrian military-scientific center in the Hama region of the country.

 

Chemical weapons and barrel bombs that have killed thousands of Syrian civilians are reportedly produced in the factory that was attacked.

 

The Syrian army later threatened Israel with “dangerous consequences” following the air strike.

 

“This belligerence is a brazen attempt to raise the morale of the terror organization ISIS, which finds itself in a state of collapse after crushing victories by the Syrian army against the terror on more than one front,” the army said. READ MORE
