Jewish Home to Netanyahu: Stop capitulating

The Jewish Home party was unimpressed on Thursday evening by several statements made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, calling on him to focus more on actions and less on words.

 

The party was referring to Netanyahu’s call to impose the death penalty on the terrorist who carried out last week’s terrorist attack in Neve Tzuf (Halamish), as well as the report that he is prepared to surrender territory in the Wadi Ara region in exchange for a final status agreement with the Palestinian Authority which recognizes Israeli annexation of large “settlement blocs” in Judea and Samaria, including Gush Etzion.

 

"All the declarations of recent days are not helpful. The damage caused by the capitulation and the severe damage to Israel’s security must be corrected with a determined war against terror, and not with words. We must stop capitulating and rewarding terrorism," the Jewish Home said.

 

Neither the White House nor the Prime Minister’s Office have responded to the report about Netanyahu’s willingness to surrender territory from pre-1967 Israel in exchange for Israel’s annexation of major population centers in Judea and Samaria.

 

A political source confirmed that "the idea was brought up a few weeks ago, not as a specific proposal, but as part of a proposal for a comprehensive agreement."

 

Shlomo Ne'eman, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, said in response to the report, "We support the immediate application of sovereignty in Gush Etzion, but we will not agree in any way that in return for this right, just and necessary step, the State of Israel will hand over to the Palestinian Authority parts of its homeland in the heart of the country and lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state on Highway 6. The borders of the state must move only in one direction."
